If you're building your first website for your business, there’s a good chance you’re writing it like you're applying for a job. That’s totally normal — most of us have spent years learning how to get hired, not how to sell our services as business owners.
But here’s the mindset shift: Your website isn’t about proving your credentials. It’s about earning trust and answering the unspoken questions your clients are already asking.
Let’s take the “About Me” page as an example. Most people treat this like a mini resume — listing certifications, job history, or how they got started. And while that info can be helpful, that’s not really what your potential clients came to that page for. They’re probably wondering things like:
“Do I feel safe or understood by this person?”
“Can I trust them with my project/body/story?”
“Do they get what people like me are going through?”
So really… your “About Me” is actually about them.
It’s a tough shift to make, especially if you’ve never had to anticipate client concerns or think from that customer-first point of view. But that’s exactly where this ChatGPT worksheet comes in.
The Client-First Website Copy Worksheet!
I created a client-first website copy worksheet that you can fill out and paste into ChatGPT to help rewrite your website in client-friendly, trust-building language. It will walk you through:
Defining your ideal client
Clarifying what each page or section of your site is really for
Translating your thoughts into warm, clear writing your clients will connect with
This worksheet helps you stop writing like a job applicant, and start writing like a business owner who deeply understands your clients. You’ll not only get better website copy, you’ll start thinking more clearly about how to talk about your business everywhere (think: flyers, Instagram bios, pitch emails, you name it).
Because here’s the secret: Your job as a business owner is to answer the questions your ideal clients are thinking before they even ask them out loud.
