tl;dr — Yes. You absolutely need a physical business card.

But we can think outside the box about it.

Hi there, new business owner. Feeling confused? You're seeing those ads too, aren't you?"Print is a thing of the past! Just download your contact info right into their phone!"

Seems handy, right?

Let me ask you a couple of questions real fast:
  • When was the last time you forgot someone's name that you met at a networking event?Yeah.

  • When was the last time you scrolled through your contacts? Yeah.

  • Who even are half those people?? Yeah.

A stack of dark navy business cards with a gold barber pole logo, scissors, and a straight razor on a white marble surface, evoking a sleek feel.

You have way too many ideas and too much going on to remember Susan Something-Or-Another put her info into your phone. Out of sight, kind of out of mind, right?

Can I tell you a secret? You may feel like you're running at a million miles an hour—and maybe you're the only one who forgets to text people back—but as a seasoned graphic designer in California who loves working with smaller businesses, I can tell you with confidence that you are not alone. You are exactly the kind of person who can build a wildly successful business. You're a mover and a shaker! And that means you rely on notes, paper, reminders.

Exactly what a business card is.

A note. A reminder. A tiny piece of print design that asks to be touched again. They can put it on their desk, stick it on their fridge, or keep it in a stack. It's tactile. It doesn’t disappear into an app no one ever opens again. If you insist on a way to be added to their contacts with a click, a tiny link or QR code on your card can do the trick!

Don’t fade away into nothing.

Don’t get lost in their contact folder.

Don’t be the subject of a forgotten text.

Don’t leave them empty-handed.

A simple card at the end of a conversation can legitimize you and your business. You know who has cool cards? Real businesses. They feel like something. Suede, extra glossy, embossed, brightly colored—it helps people remember you and your vibe. It adds trust. It adds solidity.

Now maybe you’re thinking, “Well, business cards are so boring and weird to hand out… I just don’t vibe.”That’s totally valid. No one likes to feel pitched to. It might even feel too formal. But I know you think outside the box.

So what would you rather hand people?A sticker?A postcard with more info and trading-card-style art on it?

Let’s get funky with it. But let’s also be real—and grounded—in the physical. Print isn’t dead. It’s personal.

Business cards are 100% worth it.

Don’t get forgotten.
